Did you know Snickerdoodle is part of one of the largest cat breeds in the world?
Maine Coons are big, fluffy, and full of personality — that’s why everyone calls them “Maine’s Gentle Giants.”
Here are a few things that make them so special:
- 🐱 They play fetch!
Yup — Maine Coons act more like dogs than cats sometimes. They’ll bring you their toys, drop them at your feet, and wait for you to throw them again. - 🎶 They chirp and trill instead of meowing.
These sweet sounds are how they “talk” — like tiny bird songs mixed with giggles. That’s why Snickerdoodle trills with excitement in her stories. - 🧸 They carry their toys around proudly.
Whether it’s a crinkly ball or their beloved Fishy, Maine Coons love to show off what they’ve “caught.” - 🐾 They’re gentle, goofy, and full of love.
Big enough to seem fierce — but all fluff and heart on the inside. They adore kids, follow their families from room to room, and want to be part of every adventure. - 🌊 They love water!
Unlike most cats, Maine Coons are fascinated by sinks, tubs, and puddles. If there’s water, there’s probably a paw in it. - 🐾 Maine Coon cats often have large, well-furred paws with noticeable tufts of hair between the toes. Some Maine Coons are polydactyl, meaning they are born with extra toes—a trait historically common in the breed.
🦞 The magical place where Snickerdoodle’s adventures began!
Maine is full of tall pines, cozy small-town charm, and curious wildlife right in the front yard — where every path whispers of adventure.
From snowy forests to crystal-clear lakes and rugged coastlines, a little bit of magic waits to be discovered around every corner.
🌅 1. Maine Is the First to See the Sunrise!
The eastern tip of Maine — from Lubec’s West Quoddy Head to the summit of Cadillac Mountain — is among the first places in the United States to see the sunrise, depending on the time of year.
That’s why Snickerdoodle’s story begins with the morning light — because every great adventure starts with a brand-new day.
🌊 2. Maine Has More Coastline Than California!
If you stretched out every bay, beach, and bend in Maine’s rocky shore, it would be longer than California’s — more than 3,400 miles of seaside exploring!
That’s a lot of room for kittens to chase sea breezes and seagulls.
🦞 3. Lobsters Rule the Sea!
Maine is famous for its lobsters! These amazing sea creatures can live for more than 50 years, and they never stop growing. Most people don’t know that lobsters come in lots of different colors. Some are even bright blue — but those are super rare, only about 1 in every 1 to 2 million!
⚓ The Largest Lobster Ever Caught
The biggest lobster ever found was caught near Maine, off Nova Scotia, in 1977.
It weighed 44 pounds, 6 ounces (20.1 kg) — that’s about as heavy as a five-year-old child!
Most Maine lobsters are much smaller, but some have reached over 20 pounds — about the size of a small dog.
❄️ 4. Maine Knows Winter!
Some parts of Maine get up to 100 inches of snow every year!
That’s enough for snow tunnels, snow forts, and plenty of cozy naps by the fire.
🐋 5. Whales Visit Every Summer
Humpback and minke whales visit Maine’s coast each year to enjoy a big meal of tiny fish and plankton.
If you listen closely, you might hear their songs drifting through the mist.
🐱 6. The Maine Coon: Maine’s Official State Cat
Maine Coons — like Snickerdoodle — are gentle, playful, and super smart!
They’re called “Maine’s Gentle Giants” and are known for their friendly, funny ways.
They love to:
• 🎾 Play fetch and carry toys around
• 🎶 Chirp and trill instead of meowing
• 🌊 Splash in water (yes, really!)
• 💞 Follow their people everywhere
They’re part cat, part dog — and all heart..
🫐 7. Blueberries Everywhere!
Maine is the largest producer of wild (low-bush) blueberries in the world.
Tiny, sweet, and bright blue — they’re perfect for muffins… or for rolling across the kitchen floor.
Snickerdoodle called them “giggle berries.”
🌅 8. Lighthouses and Legends
More than 60 lighthouses shine along Maine’s coast — each one guiding ships home through the fog.
Some are tall, some tiny, but all have stories to tell.
That’s just a small peek into the wonder of Maine — where every breeze has a story, every forest hides a giggle, and every great adventure begins with a wiggle.
